The Triune is a deity of three Faces, or aspects, worshiped throughout the Antaran Empire in Betrayal in Antara. The Church of the Triune includes priesthoods dedicated to each individual Face, Senaedrin, Henne, and Kor, and temples specific to one Face or another are present throughout the Empire.

Though the Triune is represented in spiritual practice as a three-part deity, there is some evidence that the three Faces are aspects of one undivided entity.

History[]

The Triune is reported to have first revealed itself during the Age of Magic after the Grrrlf War, appearing to contemplative soldiers at the original Shepherd Garrison in the Harkune Mountains. The Shepherds became priests of the three-faced deity and began to proselytize; the Church of the Triune coalesced into three Arms, one for each Face, providing spiritual and cultural guidance to their adherents. The religion was scoffed at by popular and powerful mages, who saw no need for deities when they had magic.

However, a period of anti-magic Uprisings followed the magical destruction of Chuno and creation of the Waste, and mages were driven into hiding while the Sisters of Senaedrin, the healing Face, tended to the victims of the violent magical maelstrom and became a powerful factor in the rebuilding of Chunese life.

When Valorian I decided to expand his kingdom into an Empire, he persuaded the priesthood of the Triune that their faith could be more easily spread in a unified and secure territory. The religion is uncontested in Antara.

Faces[]

Senaedrin[]

Senaedrin is the only feminine Face, representing birth, healing, and renewal. The Spring Festival, a religious and cultural festival celebrated in the Antaran Empire, marks the time of Senaedrin's annual rebirth, and the first four months of the year are counted as the "Moons of Senaedrin." Some of her defining traits are described in "I Guess I'll Be Drinking Their Share."

Artifacts associated with Senaedrin include Senwater, Sencream, and Circlets of Senaedrin. The Senaedrin's Head Lake north of Ticoro is named after her, and the spell Gift of Sen is associated with her.

Henne[]

Henne represents childhood, innocence, laughter, and celebration, and is considered the patron of the performing arts. The four summer and autumn months are counted as the Moons of Henne. Some of his defining traits are described in "I Guess I'll Be Drinking Their Share."

Artifacts associated with Henne include Henne's Horn. The Henne's Shadow Inn and Henne's Breath Inn are named after him.

Kor[]

Kor is perceived as a guardian and a warrior, brave, wise, and fair. The four months of winter, culminating in the Spring Festival and the renewal of the year, are counted as the Moons of Kor. Some of his defining traits are described in "I Guess I'll Be Drinking Their Share."

Artifacts associated with Kor include Kor's Blood. Kor's Kitchen is named after him.
