Krondor

Krondor is a Midkemian city in Betrayal at Krondor. It is a major political and commercial hub of the Kingdom of the Isles, the dwelling place of Prince Arutha conDoin, and a key location in the game.

Geography[]

Krondor was built built on an islet on the Bitter Sea in the southwest corner of the Kingdom, where three branches of the King's Highway meet south of Sarth, south of Tanneurs, and west of Darkmoor.

Background[]

Krondor is the traditional home of the heir apparent to the Kingdom's throne and the capital of the Western Realm. A massive castle looms over the city, with the Prince's standards fluttering on its parapets by the ocean's breeze. The Mockers throng streets both high and low, and the local merchants hike up the prices.

Once a trading outpost in Keshian Bosania, it has a long and turbulent history as numerous princes and dukes have struggled for control of the city. During the Riftwar, it was temporarily seized by Guy du Bas-Tyra at the command of mad King Rodric, but was later rightfully restored to the ConDoin line. It is now peacefully ruled by Prince Arutha and the Princess Anita.

Locations[]

Chapter 1[]

The party's main goal in the first chapter is to deliver Gorath and his message to Prince Arutha at Krondor.

Upon arrival, they find that the gate to the Palace has been sabotaged and the Krondorian Lancer on duty refuses to fetch the Prince, who is in an important meeting with Master Magician Pug and the Tsurani Great One, Makala. Seigneur Locklear, intuiting that the sabotage was intended to expose them to moredhel assassins, leads the party down into the Thieves' Highway, where they meet Limm and receive the Royal Key of Krondor from Seigneur James before arriving at a ladder whose locked door opens into the Palace. Unlocking the door with the Royal Key ends the chapter.
