The Aspreza Caves are a small network of caverns in southeast Pianda in Betrayal at Antara. They are located just south of Aspreza and are first accessible in Chapter 1.

Description

This small set of caves is the first place to encounter Masliths in the game. There are two groups of four Masliths and two groups of four Carliths inhabiting the caverns. There are also two unlocked, non-trapped Chests; the Chest found in a northwest cavern contains Cheese, while the one found in a northeast cavern contains Cheese and 1 Torch.

Hints and Tips

To fully explore the Aspreza Caves, enter with 6 or more Torches, at least 1 Rope, and Senwater for the whole party. Do not cast Resonance of Fortune; there is no treasure hidden in the walls, and Shovels and Pickaxes are not needed.

If Fidali Paste is not yet available, cure Maslith poison by using 1 Senwater during the character's first turn after being poisoned. Poisoning is much more difficult to cure after the fight ends.

Mickel Subquest

To rescue young Mickel from a pit in the caverns, meet his mother Briala in Aspreza and bring at least 1 Rope into the cave. Find the pit in a southwest cavern, speak to Mickel, and then give him the Rope. Return to Briala's house for a reward.

Trivia

Unlike the mines in Betrayal at Krondor, the party cannot fall into pits in this cave.

The Carliths inhabiting the caverns do not carry items.

Mickel can be rescued if the party has at least 1 Rope. None is used up during the rescue, leaving the party with the same amount they started with. This is the only place where Rope is needed in Chapter 1.
